Morgan Gilhuly is a partner with Barg Coffin Lewis & Trapp, LLP, specializing in environmental litigation and counseling. Morgan has represented defendants in major environmental litigation regarding the Dunsmuir Sacramento River spill, a release of chemicals at a San Francisco oil refinery, an EPA cost recovery action regarding a mercury mine in Marin County, PCE contamination in the Central Valley, and at Superfund sites in Silicon Valley. Morgan was formerly a partner and the chair of the Environmental Law Department at Landels Ripley & Diamond, LLP.

Morgan has been honored as a "Super Lawyer" by San Francisco magazine in an annual survey of Northern California lawyers every year since the survey's inception in 2004.

Morgan’s professional expertise includes:

  • Representing clients in cases involving soil and groundwater contamination, including federal and state enforcement actions, administrative proceedings, CERCLA and state law cost recovery cases, and toxic tort and property damage cases
  • Providing advice regarding the environmental aspects of real estate transactions, including due diligence, purchase and sale of contaminated properties, and contracting
  • Prosecuting and defending citizen suit claims under federal and state environmental law, including RCRA, Clean Water Act and Proposition 65
  • Representing clients in federal and state courts and before government agencies, including Regional Water Quality Control Boards, Air Quality Management Districts, and city and county agencies
