Brian S. Haughton

Brian Haughton is a founding partner of Barg Coffin Lewis & Trapp, LLP. His practice focuses on environmental compliance counseling, litigation and administrative proceedings, and redevelopment of environmentally impaired real property ("brownfields"). Brian regularly lectures and publishes on these topics and has served as an adjunct professor of environmental law at Hastings College of the Law and University of San Francisco School of Law.

Brian has been repeatedly honored as a "Super Lawyer" by San Francisco magazine in an annual survey of Northern California lawyers.

Brian's professional expertise includes:

  • Counseling clients regarding compliance with federal, state and local environmental and related laws and regulations, including the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB32), Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act, Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (Proposition 65), California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), Carpenter-Presley-Tanner Hazardous Substance Account Act (HSAA), Hazardous Waste Control Law, Medical Waste Management Act, Radiation Control Law, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act of 1986 (EPCRA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976 (a.k.a.
